A big part of why students don't ask questions is because of social pressure. Questions like: "Everyone probably knows this already" or, "I don't want to waste the professor's time" often prevent students from raising their hand and will sometimes result in the student disengaging from the lecture. ClassroomHelper solves this by eliminating the social pressure: the question is posted and voted on anonymously.

A concern many professors have is that students will be distracted while they're entering in their question. To avoid this, professors can post questions that are key to understanding the concepts that will be covered beforehand. This way, throughout an explenation, professors can look at the corresponding question for that topic and see how many people still have it up-voted. If enough people still have it upvoted, meaning they still don't understand the topic, the professor knows to explain that topic further.
